Galaxy S24 Ultra camera specifications leaked

Information about next year’s Galaxy S24 series has already started to emerge. Some earlier reports suggested a variable zoom camera for the galaxy S24 Ultra. However, it had also been reported to be canceled recently.

Reliable industry insider @UniverseIce shared some information about the cameras of the S24 Ultra on X (formerly Twitter). According to the report, there will be a new high resolution sensor for the 3X telephoto module instead of the 10MP one of the past 3 iterations.

Camera specification of Galaxy S24 Ultra

  • Main sensor – 200MP 0.6ใŽ› ISOCELL HP2 (same as S23 Ultra)
  • 3x telephoto – 50 MP (with 5X super-hybrid zoon)
  • Ultrawide – 12MP 1.4ใŽ› Sony IMX564 (also the same)
  • 10x telephoto – 10MP 1.12ใŽ› IMX754+ (slightly improved)

The 10X telephoto will only feature a slightly improved sensor, which could indicate an increased zoom range for next year’s ultra flagship. Apart from that, the camera hardware remains mostly unchanged from this year’s S23 Ultra.

Nonetheless, the camera performance can still be improved through software processing. We have already seen major improvements on camera on a Samsung flagship with the same hardware.

However, software processing can still enhance the camera performance significantly. We have already witnessed significant camera quality improvements on previous Samsung flagships with the same hardware.

It’s worth noting that some regions will get an Exynos chipset this time around. While the ISP (Image Signal Processing) is a separate hardware component, it closely collaborates with the main processor.

As a result, there might be differences in image quality among different regions. In the past, we have observed that Snapdragon variants of Samsung flagships generally offer better noise reduction and overall image quality compared to the Exynos variants, despite having the same camera hardware.

It will be interesting to see how Samsung adjusts both variants to match in terms of quality, assuming they make such adjustments in the first place.
