Galaxy S24 Ultra discontinues Samsung’s signature curved design

Galaxy S24 Ultra display

It’s been quite a while since we started hearing about the Galaxy S24 Ultra leaks and rumors. And a pretty shocking one among them was about the switch to a flat display for the Galaxy S24 Ultra, following Apple’s path.

Speaking of leaks, tipster @OnLeaks has revealed a 360° video confirming the exterior design of the device. The Galaxy S24 Ultra finally starts to follow the industry standards ditching Samsung’s signature curved design.

Although, unlike the Galaxy S24’s flat display and sides, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is very slightly curved on the edges. I have talked about the potential disadvantage of the Galaxy S24’s flat design, which will thankfully not be applicable for the Ultra model.

The display panel of the Galaxy S24 Ultra is flat, only the display bezel portion appears to be slightly curved. So the Galaxy S24 Ultra gets a flat display, all while keeping slight similarities with last year’s Galaxy S23 Ultra rather than the latest iPhone.

Smartprix previously revealed the base Galaxy S24’s design, which is done the very Apple way. Thankfully, Samsung did choose to keep their signature design somewhat alive with the Ultra model, at least for now.

Aside from the display design, the display is a 6.8-inch QHD+ dynamic AMOLED 2x panel with 120Hz refresh rate and HDR 10+ support. Not to mention, the display quality of the Galaxy S24 Ultra is one of the best, if not the best, among its competitors. And in terms of peak brightness, it’s rumored to reach up to 2500 nits under direct sunlight.

Other notable changes

Talking about build, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will use a titanium frame, differentiating it from the base Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus. While titanium is denser than aluminum, the phone mysteriously maintains nearly the same weight as its predecessor without sacrificing any major weight-determining aspect.

Talking about the camera, now there will be a 5x telephoto to replace the signature 10x module of the previous Ultra models. While the whole internet is seemingly having concerns about the downgrade regarding the numbers, Samsung might have taken the decision after a fair bit of research, and here’s the reason why they did it.
