Xiaomi 15 launches as the first Snapdragon 8 Elite flagship: 6.36” display with 5400mAh battery

Xiaomi becomes the first to launch Android flagships with the new Snapdragon 8 Elite chip. Xiaomi 15 specifications and highlights

The Xiaomi 15 sports a 6.36-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2670×1200 pixels, featuring Xiaomi’s LIPO three-dimensional screen packaging and custom M9 material.

This display supports 1-120Hz LTPO refresh rate, 3200 nits of peak brightness, and DC dimming for eye protection. The device is also compact with a width of 71.2mm and a weight of 191g, enhanced with IP68 water and dust resistance.

The device boasts an aviation-grade aluminum frame with an integrated 3D cold-sculpted crater and curved frame for a premium feel. It also has the convenience of ultrasonic fingerprint recognition, which functions seamlessly in various lighting and even with wet hands.

For durability, the Xiaomi 15 is built with Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass, claiming 10x drop resistance compared to the Xiaomi 14.

An upgraded camera system

In collaboration with Leica, Xiaomi has equipped the Xiaomi 15 with a 50MP “Light Hunter 900” primary sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. This triple-camera system supports OIS, floating focus, and advanced computational photography with Xiaomi’s AISP 2.0 for enhanced image processing.

Battery and charging

The device comes with a substantial 5400mAh battery, offering 90W wired and 50W wireless charging, supported by Xiaomi’s Surge P3 and Surge G1 chips for optimized power management. Xiaomi’s magnetic wireless charging system is another new feature in the Xiaomi 15, providing additional convenience for compatible accessories.

Performance and power efficiency

The Snapdragon 8 Elite chip marks a major leap in performance with its all-big-core architecture, designed for intensive tasks and better thermal efficiency.

According to Qualcomm, this chip delivers enhanced power efficiency, making it 40% more energy-efficient, particularly for tasks such as gaming and video processing. Xiaomi enhances this efficiency further with its HyperCore and self-developed micro-architecture scheduler, reportedly reducing app startup times by nearly 46%.

The Xiaomi 15 is available in multiple configurations:
