A recent report from reliable tipster @UniverseIce suggests that the upcoming Galaxy S24 series is most likely to bring back Exynos to certain markets, just like in the past.
This is going to be the Exynos 2400 chip, on which Samsung has been working since 2022. After the Galaxy S23 series was powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 all over the world, we are going to see the return of Exynos in selected markets. Probably the playtime is over.
A few days back, there were already reports suggesting that Samsung is thinking about going back to the dual-platform strategy they used in the past, and finally, here we are. The vice president of Samsung MX (Mobile Experience) stated that they are going to prioritize performance and choose whichever is best for the markets of Exynos.
So, at least in their eyes, Exynos finally seems to be comparable to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Speaking of which, tests on the Galaxy S24+ with the 8 Gen 3 have yielded some impressive results.
Although Exynos chips have disappointed us again and again in the past, recently Samsung is investing a big portion of their revenue in the development of Exynos so that they can make their in-house chipset stand out, and there’s a reason why they are not quitting Exynos.
That being said, the launch is scheduled to be held in the first quarter of 2024, and there is still a long time for development, and surely we are going to hear more about the upcoming device and the performance of the Exynos 2400 chipset going forward.
As a part of the development of Exynos, Samsung is reportedly working on custom CPU cores like custom Mongoose cores from the past. All these efforts suggest that they really have big plans regarding their semiconductor business.
For now, we know that Exynos is coming back to Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S lineup once again.
