Galaxy Z Flip 7 reportedly packs much larger battery

The upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7 will reportedly feature a larger battery compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy Z Flip 6, according to recent leaks. The new foldable smartphone will reportedly have a combined rated battery capacity of 4,174 mAh (typical capacity is 4,300 mAh), which is a significant improvement over the 3,887 mAh capacity of the Z Flip 6.

This upgrade, paired with a more efficient chip, is expected to significantly improve the battery life of the Z Flip 7.

Larger battery paired with more efficient chip

Just like last year, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 will feature two batteries: a larger one with a rated capacity of 2,985 mAh and a smaller one with 1,189 mAh. When combined, these batteries offer a typical capacity of 4,300 mAh, a noticeable increase over the Z Flip 6’s 4,000 mAh typical capacity. This boost in battery size is expected to address one of the key pain points of flip phones—battery life.

For context, the Galaxy S25 has a typical battery capacity of 4000 mAh. While the battery life largely depends on the power consumption (hence the chipset and the overall power optimization), it’s still impressive to see the flip phone with a hinge packing a battery larger than one of the latest bar flagships from the brand.

That said, the source didn’t mention anything about the underlying battery tech, so it’s currently unclear whether the phone packs a high-density Si/C battery.

Snapdragon 8 Elite

As for the chipset, the Z Flip 7 is rumored to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite, the same one that powers the S25 series.

And speaking of power efficiency, the S25 series does offer significantly longer battery life than its predecessors, even though they pack the exact same capacity. The upcoming flip phone will also come with One UI 7 (not 7.1, though, as that’s reportedly been canceled), so it should also benefit from the performance optimizations.
