We are now only hours away from the Made by Google 2023 event, which is going to announce the Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, and Pixel Watch 2. Today, a leak about the pricing of the Google Pixel 8 series and Pixel Watch 2 emerged on Twitter/X ahead of the launch.
Starting off with the Pixel 8, there are two storage variants: 128 GB and 256 GB and they costs $699 and $759 respectively.
For context, the two storage variants of last year’s Pixel 7 were listed at $599 and $699, respectively. So it’s a decent amount of increase in price aside from the improvements Google has made working on it since last year.
Now coming to the Pixel 8 Pro, it has three different storage variants 128 GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB and the prices are $999, $1059, and $1179, respectively.
For context, the three storage variants of last year’s Pixel 7 Pro were listed at $899, $999, and $1099, respectively. That means you are getting the 128 GB variant of the Pixel 8 Pro at the same price you would have paid for the 256 GB variant of the Pixel 7 Pro last year.
The Google Pixel 8 series is powered by Google’s custom made 9-core Tensor G3 chipset. The Pixel 8 Pro gets a a 48MP ultrawide as compared to the 12MP one on the Pixel 7 Pro. It also brings a 5x periscope telephoto like last year.
Pricing for the Pixel Watch 2 remains the same as the original Pixel Watch last year: $349 for the (Bluetooth/Wi-Fi) version and $399 for the (Bluetooth/Wi-Fi+LTE) version of the Pixel Watch 2.
Nonetheless, this is a leak about the pricing. So take it with a pinch of salt till the launch event on October 4 at 10 am ET.
